270 years of the Ballyclare May Fair
16 to 23 May 2026
Welcome
A 270 year tradition returns
The Ballyclare May Fair began in 1756 as a horse fair, drawing farmers, traders and travellers from across Ulster to the heart of the town. More than two and a half centuries later, that same gathering is still going strong. In 2026 we mark the 270th anniversary, and the town is dressing up for the occasion. Locals, returners and newcomers are all very welcome.

A community resource
This site is a community resource celebrating the 270th anniversary of the Ballyclare May Fair. It was built and donated by Drew McMaster, a freelance web developer who lives in the town. The aim is simply to make the milestone year easier to follow, and to keep a record of it for the years ahead.
Official programme details and council updates live on the official 2026 fair page at antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk.
